How
to become an Insurance & Wellness in the Rockies' Licensed Broker
1)Colorado Licensing
To become a licensed agent in the State of Colorado you must first
be a licensed Health and Life Insurance Agent. This requires completing
a course of study and passing the Colorado Licensing Exam for Health
and Life. Agents licensed in Colorado must also complete 24 hours
of Continuing Education Credits every two years to keep their insurance
license active.
2)Long Term Care Insurance
Licensing
Once you have completed the Colorado Insurance initial licensing
process, you must compete a 2 Hour Long Term Care Insurance Certification
Course (see dates and times for courses provided by us). There is
no test required, just class instruction. You are now ready to be
appointed with one or more carriers who offer long term care insurance
in Colorado.
Agents who work with Long Term Care Insurance must
be well versed in this complex and varied insurance product to be
successful. Consumers in the baby boomer generation are becoming
knowledgeable on this subject. Long Term Care Insurance is destined
to become one of the most important financial purchases made by
anyone wanting a secure retirement. Your knowledge and advice must
be timely and accurate.
3)Voluntary Supplemental Insurance
Licensing
As health insurance continues to change and evolve we are seeing
higher deductible plans, increased out-of-pocket expenses and more
consumer-driven models coming to the forefront. These changes are
requiring consumers to look at health care from a different perspective.
Individuals are selecting supplemental health coverage to fill the
gaps and to meet their own individual needs. Products such as accident,
cancer, critical illness, and hospital income plans are becoming
increasingly popular and can be purchased in conjunction with the
new Health Savings Accounts (HSA).
You can be on the forefront of this change by licensing
and training with the professional team at Insurance & Wellness in the Rockies. These plans are offered as part of a comprehensive employee
benefit package. Some products can also be sold (in Colorado) on
an individual basis. Voluntary disability and life insurance options
are also available.
4)Other State Licensing
Licensing to sell long term care insurance in states, other than
Colorado, varies based on each individual state's licensing requirements.
Contact each state Division of Insurance for information.
