OUR MASCOT John Henry "Doc"
Holliday
Insurance & Wellness in the Rockies
has selected John Henry "Doc" Holliday as our mascot to
help us communicate why Long Term Care Insurance is an important
part of the pre-retirement planning process. It helps protect your
retirement savings.
"Doc" Holliday
expected to be shot and killed by a faster gun. Because he was chronically
ill, he engaged in a risky life style of gambling, drinking and
gun fighting, knowing his tuberculosis (TB) was taking him anyway.
Biographers always note that Doc Holliday "died in bed."
More detailed accounts reveal that his last words were "this
is funny". It is thought Doc was referring to the paradox that
even though he thought he would die from a bullet, it was the slow
and painful suffering from TB that got him after all.
Insurance & Wellness in the Rockies
was established in Denver, Colorado in 1987. In 2004 we opened a
Western Regional Office in Glenwood Springs. Docs tombstone
overlooks the town of Glenwood Springs and has 4 aces on one corner
and a revolver in the other! Doc spent his last years here partaking
of the world famous hot springs, which he hoped would ease the pain
of his advancing TB. Doc is a reminder, that we are not in control
of our final days and that Long Term Care will be needed by one
out of two us. These days it is very unlikely a bullet will be what
gets us in the end!
Doc was well liked in Glenwood and we have
seen how well his caricature and life story are getting the word
out about Long Term Care Insurance planning. We think Doc would
probably say "Dont gamble with your retirement, consult
an expert." Our agents serve Coloradoans in all communities
of the Rockies. Contact us if we can be of assistance to you or
any of your "notorious" friends, relatives or clients
with their Long Term Care Insurance needs.
